Hey
Gang,
We're
winding things down in Nanchang, the Trenton of Jiangxi. Today Jenny, our
guide/lifesaver, gave us notarized copies of Jingle's Chinese birth
certificate, certificate of abandonment (she was found at the gate of a farm,
which is now an office tower or something tall and covered in glass and
concrete) and our official adoption certificate. Tomorrow we pick up
Jingle's Chinese passport and another document that I don't know the use for.
Armed with those, we can hop a short flight (shortest of the 7 on this
trip!) to Guangzhou (aka Canton). That's where we'll apply for Jinglei's
US visa, which will take us up to next Thursday. That's too bad because
the homesickness/fatigue really set in yesterday (Day 11).
It's
the little things we miss like ice water, air conditioning and driving the
right way down a 1-way street.
